2012 Belgium Print E-mail

Our Belgian donation of £5000 was to Maison d'Enfants Reine Marie Henriette.

This is a charity in Brussels that supports children and families in difficulty.

It is a residential home that looks after children from birth to age 14, either temporarily or permanently and helps re-integrate children to their family situation where possible.State funding provides the basics but they rely on donations for trips for the children and equipment. Some of our donation is going towards new beds for the children.

Ally and Mandy met with Thomas Piraux, one of the managers, and Anne Morelle, one of the directors. They gave us a tour of the house which is in different sections to care for the varying ages of the children. The staff are dedicated to providing the best care for the children and were keen to learn fundraising ideas from us. The majority of children were at school so we couldn't have a Tartan Army party but we left some TACC t-shirts and Thomas took photos of us in kilts to show the children.
