TACC Overseas Donation - Slovenia October 8th 2017
Botrstvo v Sloveniji (Sponsorship in Slovenia) www.boter.si
TACC donated ~5000 Euro towards Botrstvo v Sloveniji’s “Fund for Talented Children” which is used for children and teenagers that would like to engage in some sport/music or for those, who are already achieving great results in their league and need support to continue their career as they are coming from socially disadvantaged families. Currently the charity supports over 40 children from all over Slovenia coming from socially deprived environment and will start helping an additional 20 soon. Those are children from 6 to 18 years old who engage in sports like judo, football, basketball, athletics, dance etc. or play different musical instruments. TACC received a lot of positive feedback from the locals regarding the donation and TACC would like to thank the Britsh Embassy for their support in making the donation happen.

TACC Overseas Donation
September 4th, 2015
Jonas Foundation, Tbilisi, Georgia
TACC donation in Georgia will be to a unique project - The JONAS Foundation in Tbilisi which focuses upon some of the most disadvantaged children who may be orphans, homeless or living on the street and certainly from very poor families. The aim is to not only re-integrate the children back into a normal society life through the medium of music, but to identify and support those who are able, to develop that musical talent.
Where there is poverty, hostility, aggression or an absence of family love and support, the musical programmes enable the children to develop confidence, express themselves and share normal societal life experiences.
The project, led by Dachi Taktakishvili (Project Director) started in 2006 at the rehabilitation centre "Momavlis Sakhli" ("house of the future") in Tbilisi and currently supports 59 children (27 girls and 32 boys) within 3 music-orientated programmes. The Group, Individual and Social programmes inspire and encourage the children to love music, through practical education with various instruments and social enrichment and integration by exposure to a wide spectrum of musical experience, such as visits to opera, ballet and concerts.
Where possible, individuals with specific talents will be supported to obtain musical qualifications.
TACC's donation will support three aspects of the overall project
|
Children's choir – the choral group was founded in 2008 and TACC support will enable the choir of 12-15 children to meet and practice every week. In 2011, the choir assisted in the making of a musical CD ("Je chanterai la joie...l'étoile brillante du matin!"), in 2013 they performed a musical and try to perform 1-2 concerts each year.
|
Classes to two young students, age 13 and 14 – TACC support will enable Wasiko (Clarinet and piano) and Mari (Piano) to pursue further studies in English, in order to open up greater avenues and opportunities in their musical development. |
|
|
Piano lessons with Dachi Taktakishvili (Project Director) – Each week approximately 10 children of all levels are able to practice piano with the Director. Over the years, a substantial number of young pianists have been taught to a high level, one student (aged 13) to concert performance standard.

TACC is delighted to be able to help these children achieve new goals in their lives.

St Martin’s School for Children with Special Needs – Gibraltar
At Scotland's final game of the Euro 2016 campaign in Faro against Gibraltar, the Tartan Army Children's Charity (TACC) were delighted to present to Gibraltar's St Martin's School for Children with Special Needs approximately £5,000 for the purchase of a suite of trampoline equipment with accessories, plus two specially designed Therapy "Nessie" cushions.
The donation was organsied via the school's fundraising group "Little Smiles". As you can, the donation was made on the pitch before the game and involved some of the Gibraltar squad. Many thanks to all those who contributed or supported the donation, the feedback from St. Martins was very positive and the kids really enjoyed the day.
St. Martin's Special School has pupils with a very wide range of abilities and conditions, ranging from pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) to pupils who are able to access an Outreach Curriculum into Mainstream. The school is able to cater for children with Down's Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Lowe Syndrome, Rett's Syndrome, Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome, Kabuki Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Angelman Syndrome, ADD and ADHD.
The staff are supported by weekly visits from a Therapeutic Team consisting of a Speech Therapist, a Physiotherapist and an Occupational Therapist, all of whom work very closely with the teachers and collaboratively they will devise an Individual Educational Programme which will include any specific Therapy input. Musical therapy is provided by a Music teacher who comes 3 days a week.
TACC is delighted to be able to give these very deserving children an opportunity to enhance their play time, while enabling an improvement to their therapeutic programmes and achieving a great degree of personal development.

TACC Overseas Donation - Malta September 3rd 2016
Ladybird Foundation
At Scotland's first game of the World Cup 2018 campaign in Malta, the Tartan Army Children's Charity (TACC) were delighted to present the Ladybird Foundation with a cheque for 5,942 Euros. The Ladybird Foundation gives children who are terminally, critically or seriously ill the opportunity to go on a dream trip with their families, sadly sometimes their last opportunity to do this. Ladybird said "We would like to thank the TARTAN ARMY CHILDREN'S CHARITY (TACC) for donating the generous sum of EUR 5,942. The funds will be used to send Gilbert and his family to Munich to watch his favourite team Bayern Munich play in the Bundesliga on September 16th. Gilbert received a kidney transplant in 2008 which has now started to fail. He is currently undergoing treatment and will soon be operated again. THANK YOU to all the Scottish fans, it's no wonder that you are renowned as being amongst the best fans in the world."
TACC very much appreciates the awesome Tartan Army Select Football Team for allowing us to attend their match to make the presentation. Unfortunately they lost their match but they were playing in incredible heat and the opposition included some former Malta national team players. As usual they left a great impression of Scotland fans on their hosts - we call that winning! To top it all off Scotland won 5-1 and are top of the group - lets enjoy that!!! Thanks to everyone involved!

Graeme Richards et al - Fantastic Fundraising for TACC including Kiltwalk
TACC would like to say a huge well done to Graeme Richards and all our TACC walkers who on Sunday 18th September 2016 completed the Edinburgh Kiltwalk. Our mantra of "Pain is Temporary Pride is Forever" certainly helped get them all through it !!!
This event saw Graeme completing his final challenge in memory of his son Connor. In the past 14 months Graeme has pushed his body to the limit and has successfully completed 14 challenges ("Slik-14") to collect 14 medals resulting in an awesome £4,436.23 raised for TACC.
On behalf of us all at TACC we would like to say a massive thank you for your incredible efforts - you really are an inspiration to us all. Graeme's just giving page will remain open until 11 October - Connor's birthday - so there is still time to pop a penny in his pot !!! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/connor-slik14
