TACC would like to say a massive thank you to the 400 inspirational people who completed the Kiltwalk on Sunday 18th April 2010.

We started out thinking we'd be happy to get 100 supporters joining us for the first Kiltwalk, but the idea really caught on and 400 made a tremendous effort, raising well over £100,000!

What a day - we were completely humbled by the effort of everyone who did the walk, some of the following standing out.....

  • The 10 year old lad who strolled in with his Dad;
  • Austin and James who both wheeled themselves around;
  • One lad who i'm sure had a prosthetic leg;
  • The woman with sciatica of the hip;
  • Matthew, a Dad who carried 2 year old Dennis in a pack on his back - they so nearly made it, but after 23 miles and numerous nappy and food stops it was just getting too cold for the wee guy. They were both perfectly fine after a hot drink, stovies and a drop of Irn Bru.

and far too many people to mention them all who hobbled in with blisters.

Everyone (apart from Mathew and Dennis and they have a decent excuse) completed the walk, which really was amazing given the state of some them at the end.

TACC would also like to give a massive thanks to:

  • Colin, Gillian and the rest of the SFA team for letting us start in Hampden and providing breakfast for everyone (and doing the walk with us);
  • Cat from Real Radio who did the whole walk with her girlfriends, and gave the walk so much airtime;
  • Spud the Piper for doing his thing at the start, pit stops and the end;
  • Cathy, Geraldine, Aileen and Kate for getting up so early to help us with the registration (and the latter two for braving the cold to model the new TACC tartan minikilt);
  • Miss Scotland for helping at the start;
  • Strathclyde Police for safely escorting us for the first 2 miles, stopping traffic the whole way;
  • The guys from 6th SCOTS Territorial Army who set up the two pit stops and provided hot drinks, soup and stovies;
  • The amazing guys and girls of St Andrew's Ambulance service who provided constant blister repairs and a few more serious patch ups at the end;
  • Trudy and the team at the National Park HQ in Balloch who not only provided us with our finishing line but really went beyoned the call of duty helping the walking wounded at the end;
  • Barrs for the 25 cases of Irn Bru and Purely Scottish for the 600 bottles of water;
  • Frank for taking the photos all day (they 'll be online by the end of the week hopefully);
  • And finallly Hazel and guys at the Tullie Inn for our evening's entertainment, the brilliant Ted Christopher. Unbelievably at 12pm there was a pub full of us bouncing around on the dancefloor to Loch Lomond!Same again next year?
