Kirkcaldy West Primary School - Mini TACC KiltWalk

Kirkcaldy West Primary School decided to support TACC as one of their nominated charities for 2009-10.

The Primary 7 pupils invited TACC to the school so they could find out what we did and who we helped. The pupils were also very interested in how TACC arranged big events like the KiltWalk.

The pupils decided to spend time creating their own KiltWalk event from scratch, completing all of the steps needed to create a Mini-KiltWalk.This was both a fun and educational task for the pupils, with teachers helping the pupils develop teamwork, enterprise and many other skills when completing a range of tasks.

The Primary 7 classes divided up the workload across a number of teams:

  • advertising
  • fund raising ideas
  • route planning
  • gaining permission for the event
  • awards
  • arranging sponsorship forms
  • collecting/accounting money raised

As a result of this fantastic educational project, the school was able to make a donation of £1537.57 to TACC.

TACC would like to thank all of the pupils and teachers at Kirkcaldy West Primary school.

This money will help TACC support children both in Scotland and abroad.
