£10,000 Donation - Home and Away. To recognise the special fixture between the two oldest competing footballing nations, TACC arranged a unique cross-border donation to be made to Child Bereavement UK (CBUK). TACC visited Child Bereavement UK’s offices in Saunderton, presenting 2 x £5000 cheques. Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.
The "Away" donation will support the Children and Young Persons Support CHYPS group, which facilitates programmes that enable children and young people betwen the ages of 5 and 12 to come together, with the support of specially trained family support workers and volunteers. These programme are currently focused in the Bucks and Milton Keynes areas. Spending time with others their own age and understanding that they are not alone and unsupported can be an immediate benefit, and help minimise the longer term negative outcomes of bereavement such as bullying, depression and anxiety and low self esteem leading to inappropriate relationships.
The "Home" donation went towards CBUK holding two specific Family Days in Scotland, as the charity progresses to open their new centres in Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen). CBUK has been working for some time with grass-roots bereavement charities in Scotland, and experienced NHS bereavement experts, and has frequently been asked to deliver training and quality development projects here.
